What do YOU want to do?

This video is thought provoking; it asks: Will you spend your life doing things you don't like doing in order to go on living?  If Money weren't an object what would you do with your life?

If I am honest with myself, I have to admit that this question is very difficult to answer - for two reasons. First, I do not consider my current job, or any job I have ever had, to  be wholly emotionally gratifying or "what I enjoy doing." It is hard to admit that!

Second, the idea of doing something I love for a living is SCARY. Mostly because money is a motivator for me, a necessity... a factor. Would I have what it takes to put in the effort and hard work and give up the financial security? Do I deserve it?

If money weren't an object I would:

-Be a portrait photographer
-Write and publish a novel
-Coach a girls volleyball or softball team
-Somehow be affiliated with the "Biggest Loser", i LOVE that show!
-Stay at home with my kid(s)
-Be a dog trainer
-Enjoy the outdoors, Hike, Bike, Walk, kayak, CC Ski, etc - for a few hours a day.
-Be on the Board of  Non-Profit I believe in
-Make a movie
-Narrate audio books (lots of reading!)

What would you do?

A question I encountered at an

early age - the answer changes

but, my original wishes almost
came true!! TWICE!

DREAM #1 Jet Fighter Pilot

In childhood my father was an aircraft maintenance Sgt in the

USAF. We (my Mom and me) would go to the airfield to pick him up

after his mission ended - the Chief Maint. Sgt had to fly with
the mission, as sort of motivator. Anyway, I was thrilled

to see three and four fighter jets take off at once! Since then, I

wanted to be a fighter pilot and often imagined myself in the

clouds doing mach 3. Just me, the clouds, and God. Well, I kept my

dream alive by making and collecting model planes, jets,

space ships, etc. When I reached 14 I joined the Civil Air Patrol. An organization for teens and a

precursor to the USAF. I started taking pilot classes. Studying

flight in the classroom and in the sky. That was more or less where

my dream ended. An eye examine did it in. 20/20 is require.

OK OK - Here is wish #2

I was the best hardball pitcher in Lincoln Park in my age range (up to 14). When I got onto the HS team we won every game I pitched. We made it to the State finals and I was to pitch. At practice the day before I heard that there would be "scouts" in the stands. One from MLB and one from the Univ of Arizona. The day was a cold one and when I practiced a curve ball I blew out my arm. I didn't know it ... just thought it hurt because of the cold. The next day at the game my coach told me that the "scouts" had asked him about me. As soon as I got on the mound and starting warming up I knew something was very wrong... I couldn't throw anymore! End of wish to be a MLB pitcher!
