The Young and the Restless?

OH my, I don't know how it started, but I am pretty sure it is my husband's fault.

Two weeks ago we were in the bookstore and I was perusing the fiction isles, bored with all of the titles and old dead authors. That is when Brian came around with a remedy for my reading woes-- before I could say "glitterotti," I had a stack of teen drama and romance novels in my wiry hands.

Alas, it has been a whirlwind of first kisses, first loves, divorcing parents, and S.A.T. anxieties. Two weeks and ten novels later, I am still enthralled. My grandmother says it is because I am trying to recapture my youth... but I am not so sure.

Super Dope Winter Fun

My husband showed this video to me last night, it is a trailer for the latest Matchstick production "The Way I See It."  My mouth dropped, my fists clenched, and I having been thinking about hitting the slopes ever since. I definitely want to see the whole movie.

These ski junkies defy what I knew to be humanly possible. They fly. They stand on the tippity top of the highest mountains and instead of peeing their pants, like I would, they teeter over the edge and bomb down like speeding bullets. In short, this shit rocks -- and regardless of whether you ski, you should watch it.

That's a lot of alcohol!

I just got these stats from a Halloween house party I attended. Wowza!

Maybe that is why my friend, Neal, and I looked like this...

And this guy definitely had the best costume. He scared me!

Hooray for Halloween parties! Did you attend a party of note?

October!

Wowza another month of our lives has passed. And, what a great month it was! My family came for a visit, it was Halloween, I was not last place in every cyclocross race, I hung out with some wicked cool peeps, and I even made a few new friends. Thankfully, I have my iPet to document the good times. Check it.

This lil' player told me he liked me, said I was pretty, and then asked me to go to his hotel rm because he had a huge couch.

Holy Sunglasses, Batman!

I <3 the Laurelthirst Pub. I eat breakfast there often and am always shocked when people order booze before noon.

Susan and John came to PDX and we had the BEST time

Yes, this type of corruption may send me, and my team, to the hot place.

Really?

vOTE!

I just finished filling out my ballot and feel GREAT!  I, of course, did my best to vote for representatives who have my best interests in mind when making decisions and laws ---  translation: I want bike riding, puppy loving, spreadsheet making politicians who like to dance.

Make sure you don't forget to vote. And, if you need some inspiration to get out there...

Sister Photography!

I love photography. I especially love photos that give me energy and elicit emotion. Which was why I was so excited when I came across Mr. Jason Lee's photography and couldn't help but wiggle in my chair with warm fuzzies.

Jason has a photo blog featuring his two beautiful daughters. The photos portray a special family bond that focuses on having fun and celebrating life. They reminded me of some of the great fun I had with my own siblings. Check out his blog  here.

Cool stuff from other peeps

There are two things I found inspiring on the world wide web today, and I would like to share.
First, a video that my friend Corey shared on her facebook page. Ya'll know I love a good dance sesh and this one had me at the edge of my seat. I MUST learn how to move my body this way!

Second, from the blog Cup of Joe, a bit of design inspiration. Seeing this picture made me fall in love with the idea of poster size family pictures! Find her full blog post, including a link to the whole magazine spread, here.

Race Day

A quick post to feature a few pics from this past weekend's cyclocross race. These pics are especially significant and lovely, because the subjects are all dear to my heart. Find the complete gallery at www.pdxcross.com.

Beards!

Have I ever mentioned that I think beards are sexy? Well, I do. If you are a guy, you should try one out. Sure they have a knack for accumulating wayward crumbs and they require more maintenance than my dilapidated house (no one should have a neck beard) - but they must come in handy on cold days. Why else would Santa always sport one?

If you are like me and have a bald face, you should buy one of these. I think the beardhead would be perfect for my morning commute! $24.99; www.beardhead.com

Cyclocross!

I have bruises on my hips and chain oil embedded underneath my nails. My voice is hoarse and my legs are sore. I think that pdxcross.com put it best when they said-- "but the season’s first Cross Crusade felt a whole lot like a big ole’ family reunion."

I have been anticipating the start of Cyclocross season for weeks now. To the point where I was almost too nervous to get out there... but as soon as I saw the familiar faces and heard the ringing of cowbells, my nervoussness turned to relief - I love this.

For the next few Mondays I am going to give you a race update and feature the amazing photography from pdxcross.com. This group of photographers capture the essence of the guts and glory that I have come to adore. Check it.

I am also happy to report that I am now a part of a team. This is the inaugural season for team Fat Cobra and we are stoked. How could we not be - we are sponsored by Porn, Beer and Ice Cream sandwiches and proud of it! <3
